Due to recent concerns regarding an outbreak of Covid-19 in the Adelaide area, several states have declared that borders will be closed to South Australia as of midnight tonight.
Unfortunately, a number of our deployed volunteers working on Kangaroo Island have travelled from many states across Australia and are now facing the prospect of lengthy enforced quarantines upon returning to their home states. DRA has made the decision that all recovery operations conducted by DRA on Kangaroo Island have been halted immediately to enable our volunteers to return to their home states before the lockdowns commence.
“DRA has been proud to serve your community over recent days and many new aqauaintences and friendships have been formed.” said Geoff Evans, CEO of DRA. “We are sure you will understand the unique circumstances that have created this situation and assure you that we are aware of the recovery work still required on the island”.
DRA will make every effort to return to Kangaroo Island in the future when circumstances improve.
