BACKGROUND
Disaster Relief Australia and DRT Western Australia are hosting a Trim and Crosscut Chainsaw course. This training opportunity will up-skill our members and strengthen our team in readiness to serve those impacted by a disaster, or who need our help.

During this one day course you will be trained and assessed on:

Prepare for trimming and cutting felled trees
Assess felled trees visually
Plan cutting felled trees
Use chainsaw to trim and cut felled trees
Complete equipment maintenance

WHO CAN APPLY
Priority to be given to those that have some experience in using a saw or after a refresher (trim and crosscut more than 3 years ago) and to those who are keen to use a saw at Service Projects and Operations. Owing to WA Border permit and COVID-19 protocols, this course is only open to Western Australian members.

WHAT IS COVERED
Training Course, Trainer and Training Venue
Chainsaws and chainsaw PPE (Helmets, Chaps, Ear Muffs) will be provided by DRA
If possible, new DRA long sleeve shirts will be provided to successful participants without one.

WHAT IS NOT COVERED
No fuel or travel subsidy will be provided. Car pooling may be available.
Please note you must bring your own steel cap/composite toe work boots, long sleeve shirt and work pants a must. (Chainsaw PPE – Helmets, Chaps, Ear Muffs will be provided).
Meals, Snacks and beverages will be at your own expense, bring all food and snacks for the day including morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea and at least a litre of drinking water each.
Private / Personal expenses.

PREREQUISITES
Members must have reached ENGAGEMENT or DEPLOYMENT READY in Muster to be eligible for DRA Training.
