Disaster Relief Australia’s corporate and community volunteering programs will continue to grow thanks to ongoing support from partner NAB Foundation.
NAB Foundation and Disaster Relief Australia have renewed their partnership and the valuable alliance will continue for three more years.
NAB Foundation’s continued financial and practical support means that Disaster Relief Australia will continue to grow the NAB Foundation Recovery Crew and provide more opportunities for everyday Australians to assist in their own communities after disaster.
NAB CEO Andrew Irvine alongside Disaster Relief Australia CEO Dave Smith announced the partnership renewal during a visit to Disaster Relief Australia’s Operation Trew in Southeast Queensland.
Disaster Relief Australia has been in area since early March to help communities recover from Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
During the operation, Disaster Relief Australia volunteers were joined for the day by NAB employees, who spent the day in the field helping with recovery tasks.
Mr Smith said: “NAB Foundation is one of our biggest partners and we are grateful for the continued support in pursuit of our mission to assist communities to recover from disasters.
“This funding will help grow the NAB Foundation Recovery Crew, led by our dedicated DRA volunteers, as well as further develop our preparedness capabilities.”
“As disasters become more frequent and severe, people want to help as and when they can. Growing community and corporate volunteering through the NAB Foundation Recovery Crew will provide more flexible volunteering opportunities for people who cannot commit to becoming a full DRA volunteer,” Mr Smith added.
NAB CEO Andrew Irvine reiterated his support of the partnership.
“At the heart of this program is the Aussie spirit of helping each other when times get tough. I’m extremely proud to partner with Disaster Relief Australia and be part of recovery efforts and resilience building for the future.” Mr Irvine said.
The NAB Foundation Recovery Crew provides DRA-led corporate volunteering days or single-day volunteering options for community members who cannot commit to the 7-day DRA model.
