Deb and Norm, Macleay Island Residents, Operation Trew Donate“Cyclone Alfred did extensive damage on our block. A team of 8 or 9 people worked all day in high humidity, thick mud, annoying bugs and on a deep slope. They were filthy and exhausted, but they ploughed on and pushed through to break the back of a mammoth job. I cried when the team left today, and my husband and I are so grateful and so encouraged.”
Your donation changes lives
In times of flood, bushfire, cyclone or pandemic, Disaster Relief Australia’s team of volunteers are here to help providing vital relief and recovery services to affected communities. Since inception, Disaster Relief Australia has supported more than 280 communities on 152 recovery operations, spending over 38,000 days in the field. In the past 12 months alone, almost 1,000 Disaster Relief Australia volunteers have been on the ground assisting with storm and cyclone recovery in Queensland, along with helping communities in Victoria affected by bushfire and floods.

Your impact
As a not-for-profit organisation, we rely on funding to deploy our teams and keep them on the ground, ensuring timely assistance when disaster strikes. Your donation directly supports those affected by contributing to our disaster preparedness and recovery operations, helping communities withstand and rebuild after crises.
Your generosity could help cover the costs needed to mobilise our volunteers into disaster-affected areas, providing crucial support where it’s needed most. These funds can assist with travel, food, and lodging for volunteers engaged in short-term relief operations. Additionally, our community preparedness programs educate and equip at-risk communities with the skills and knowledge to identify and manage hazards before disaster strikes, ensuring they are better prepared for the unexpected.
With your help, we can empower more communities—not just in moments of crisis, but long before and long after the disaster occurs.

Yes, donations of gifts over $2 are tax deductible in Australia. You will receive a receipt in your name by email after making your donation.
If you donate to Disaster Relief Australia as a ‘deductible gift recipient’, you can claim a tax deduction on your tax return for that year for your donation. If you receive a material benefit for your donation then it is not tax deductible: for example, if you receive points or another material benefit from your credit card provider.
Donating to a deductible gift recipient will likely reduce your overall taxable income, which in turn may reduce the amount of tax you are required to pay.
You must donate at least $2 and keep proof in the form of a receipt or bank statement. We’ll send you a tax receipt. The more you donate, the more you may claim back.
