Short Term Operation Kybeyan & Nimmitabel

Following the black summer bushfires of 2019/2020, fencing remained damaged on the property of a rural elderly resident. The resident was known to the local ACT Disaster Relief and Recovery Team (DRRT) for their generosity in supporting local veterans and allowing open access to their property for recreational activities.

11 volunteers from ACT DRRT constructed 1 kilometre of fencing over a period of several days, self-sufficiently camping for the duration.

Works included:

  • Preparatory chainsaw and brush-cutter clearance
  • Construction of 1km barbed and plain wire fencing
  • Installation of ring lock
