Ken Whittingham and Mark Robinson of Fort Restructuring (FORT) have been appointed as Administrators to Disaster Relief Australia (DRA).
Established in 2016, DRA is a not-for-profit that helps communities prepare or recover from disasters, using the experience, skills and knowledge of military veterans and volunteers.
The Board of DRA voted to enter voluntary administration and appoint administrators late on Thursday March 12th.
The Board has informed Fort there are approximately 90 employees and 7,500 volunteers who will be impacted by the voluntary administration.
“At this very early stage of the administration we will focus on assessing all and any options to assist in ensuring Disaster Relief Australia can continue to work with and support impacted communities into the future,” said Mr Robinson.
“This includes as soon as practicably possible providing employees and volunteers with clarity as to next steps along with speaking to DRA’s major partners, donors and funders.
Given the size and scope of the organisation this will take some time alongside a concurrent review of the organisation’s current financial position.
We understand and appreciate this period, and uncertainty will be unsettling for the many veterans and volunteers who have selflessly given their time, knowledge and skills to help communities in Australia and beyond.
So, I wish to reiterate to them that while we cannot guarantee an outcome, our focus will be taking all practical steps to place DRA on firmer footing and working with disaster impacted communities again,” said Mr Robinson.
Fort expects to hold a first creditors meeting on Tuesday March 24th.
