Find out moreThe Disaster Relief Australia (DRA) and Lions Australia partnership is strong. Lions Clubs across Australia change lives and make the community a better place to live. Our partnership with Lions Australia provides veterans the opportunity to get involved in the incredible projects and initiatives lead by Lions Clubs. It provides Lions Clubs with skilled and experienced volunteers that can help continue and grow the wonderful work they are doing in the community.
Wherever DRA deploys volunteers on the ground to aid communities in need of recovery after disasters, Lions is there to help. Lions Clubs around Australia raise funds and volunteer their time to assist local communities throughout the year in practical ways.
When the Wauchope Lions Club heard that DRA were in the Port-Macquarie Hastings area supporting the NSW floods of 2021, they decided to support us in a tried and tested Aussie way of feeding us. When we asked why they picked us they explained, “We are here to help our community. You are here to help our community. So Lions can help feed you, to help heal us.”
Operations assisted included Operation Corkhill in the Eurobodalla Shire, NSW and Operation Elliot in the Mid North Coast of NSW.
Lions volunteers are committed to doing what they can to help others and make a difference in the community and the organisation has a proud history of mobilising to help communities in times of crisis. Lions are always amongst the first to help and are still there…
